MohBad’s death is an ongoing investigation led by Lagos Police Command. On 19 September 2023, the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu invited Department of State Services (DSS) to join the ongoing investigation.[3] MohBad’s body was exhumed by the Lagos State Police Command on 21 September 2023.[4] The autopsy was carried out and completed in the same day.[5] On 22 September 2023, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin in an interview with Punch newspapers, he confirms Mohbad’s body is currently in the mortuary.[6] On 24 September 2023, PRO Benjamin Hundeyin, issued a stern warning which reads; “The investigation will not be turned into a media trial”.[7]

MohBad was known for his “Afro-Adura” tracks, a sub-genre of Afrobeats characterised by rapping or singing about hustling while praying for a better life. The sound is popular among Nigerian youths who live in the working class parts of Lagos, such as Ikorodu, where MohBad was from.At a candlelight memorial in Lagos last week supporters wearing white T-shirts, some emblazoned with a picture of the late rapper, chanted “justice for MohBad” amid the din of vuvuzela horns.

Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, né le 3 janvier 1997 à Lagos et mort le 12 septembre 2023, connu professionnellement sous le nom de MohBad, est un rappeur, chanteur et auteur-compositeur nigérian. Il était auparavant sous contrat avec Marlian Records de Naira Marley, mais quitte le label en 2022. Il est surtout connu pour ses singles à succès Ponmo, Feel Good et KPK (Ko Por Ke) avec Rexxie, qui est nommé trois fois aux Headies Awards en 2022[1],[2].

MohBad and his wife, Omawunmi, had a son who was born in April 2023.[35] On 12 September 2023, MohBad died at the age of 27 after being treated for an infection by an unlicensed nurse, who was later arrested.[36][37][38] Police subsequently announced they would investigate the circumstances of the singer’s death after his body was exhumed on 21 September 2023.[39]
