Ginger Oil Recipe

To have your ginger oil there are two possibilities. One is oleate or infusion, which is like tea made in oil. The other option is ginger oil prepared by cold or steeping.

Cold Ginger Oil

In this process, the ginger is left to macerate in the oil for some time. In other words, little by little the natural oily compounds of ginger are incorporated into the base oil. In this way the base oil gains the properties of ginger. The advantage of this method is that the oil and ginger properties are maintained. However, conservation time decreases and production time is longer.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole, fresh ginger (approximately 100 grams);
  • 200 ml of olive oil or coconut oil.

Method of preparation

Wash the ginger thoroughly and dry. Then grate the root with husks and all. When finished, place the grated ginger in a sanitized 300 ml or more jar. Add the oil and let it macerate for 30 days.

At the end of the maceration period, strain the ginger using a sieve, for example.

Before that you can already use the oil. Store at room temperature for up to 6 months.

The important thing is to keep the glass always closed.

heated oil

In this method the oil and ginger are heated, facilitating the diffusion of substances from the ginger into the oil. This heating is done at a low temperature and helps to speed up the process. The advantage of this method is the shorter time and greater guarantee of conservation due to heat. However some properties of ginger and oil are lost.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole, fresh ginger (approximately 100 grams);
  • 200 ml of olive oil or coconut oil.

Method of preparation

Wash the ginger thoroughly and dry. Then grate the root with husks and all. When finished, place the grated ginger in a sanitized 300 ml or more jar. Add the oil and boil in a water bath for 2 hours with the lid slightly closed so that no water gets inside the glass.

You can also boil at a lower temperature for a longer time in order not to change the properties.

Wait for it to cool and it will be ready to use. Lasts more than 6 months at room temperature.
